For our growing team at the headquarters in Berlin, we are looking for a Senior Business Development Manager with expertise in the areas of digitalization, private sector development and climate change for development consulting. Responsibilities

Partnership & Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary liaison for key clients, strategic partners, and industry stakeholders to cultivate strong, lasting relationships.
  • Develop and implement partnership strategies that align with the company’s goals, ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes for all parties involved.
  • Travel as necessary to engage with partners, clients, and to explore new business opportunities, ensuring the company’s presence is solidified in key markets.

Business Development & Strategy

  • Lead the development and execution of strategic business plans to identify new business opportunities, expand market presence, and increase revenue.
  • Oversee the financial aspects of business deals, from initial proposal to final agreement, ensuring profitability and compliance with financial guidelines.
  • Guarantee the quality and timeliness of deliverables to clients and partners, maintaining the company’s reputation for excellence.

Industry Engagement & Visibility

  • Enhance the company’s visibility and position within the industry through active engagement in relevant events, forums, and discussions.
  • Manage stakeholder relations effectively, ensuring that all parties are aligned with the company’s strategic objectives and business practices.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, developments, and best practices, applying this knowledge to inform strategic decisions and maintain competitive advantage.

Experience & Skill Requirements

  • Exceptional academic background, holding a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, International Relations, Economics, or another relevant field.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in business development within the international development sector, focusing on identifying new business opportunities with EU-based donors, especially EU/EC, GIZ, KFW, and AFD.
  • Expertise in different aspects and phases of the offer preparation process, including strategic tender screening, consortium building, budget negotiations, proposal methodology drafting, team composition, CV searches, and budgetary planning. Please list a concrete track record in your application (CV or cover letter).
  • A very good understanding of the European donor and tender market, comprehensive knowledge of market dynamics (different donors, competitors, budgets), and a solid understanding of procurement processes and regulations across different sectors.
  • A proven ability to manage and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, conduct expert and consortium partner searches, and identify clients to drive business growth.
  • Outstanding negotiation and persuasion skills, with a record of successful deals and partnerships.
  • Full computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with CRM software is a plus.
  • Excellent command of English and/or French; being bilingual is a strong advantage.
  • Display commitment and passion for international development.
  • A proactive ‘can-do’ attitude with a strong drive to overcome challenges, solve problems, and focus on achieving business objectives.
